sir it is also same for IT branch..for better placement
Let me tell in nutshell if Ur from tier3 cllgs like local engg graduate and university of state govt then companies which visit Ur clg service bsd job (bpo jobs) where package is just 3-5lpa and these companies r not good for cs graduate so if u get into tier1 clg IIT iiit nits bits there u will be placed in product bsd cmpny whose salry is min 11lpa and ranges to 1crore and job u get is very good compare to service bsd job
Why gate is necessary in CS&IT ? Ans:We can't make money without it
Sir apne jo PSU mention kiya hai.. bss whi kuch PSU hai jo CS/IT se lete hain.. aapne bola hai or bhi 50+ hain.. kya aap please kuch or k naam specify kr skte hain.
For CS /IT their is only 5 or 6 psus not 50+ and competition is very high

Hello Sir mra ek doubt h…mne ECE se degree le rki h mai IT company me kaam krta hoon..but preparation mne apni aadhi ECE me kr li h GATE ke lie…IIT Ropar hmare yha college h punjab me…wha ECE ke gate score se CSE me mtech kr sakte h….mai mech CSE me krna chahta hu but 2 saal ki degree me mai CATCH kr lga CS kyuki mne Btech CSE me ni ki h….ye mra DOUBT h hlp me.

in coorporate peoples view:
1.you have more knowledge in the subject as well as concepts comparing to other candidate in the organization.
2.taking adv of first point they will play like u in the perspect of projects (ex:20 lakh pac project assign for u just 6 lakh package reason is ur able to understand ok)
whatever private organizations or coorporate world need that you mention then you will be safe other to will much headche fnds bye.
